| Expandable
homes have gained in popularity over the last few
years as home building costs have skyrocketed.
With expandable house plans, you can build part
of the home, live in it for a while, then add
more living space as your budget allows. Some
expandable home plans allow for more than one
phase. For example, the first phase could include
a great room, bedroom and bathroom. The second
phase could include a second bedroom and bath. A
third phase could include a family room and
laundry. A fourth phase could include a
garage/carport and a third bedroom. Many
expandable homes start out as vacation homes with
just a great room and bedroom and bath. Then the
owners retire and decide they want to live there
year-round, and decide to add more bedrooms and
living space. If the home began as an expandable
plan, this additional living space is already
designed into the plan and easier and
less-expensive to build.
